Kevin Love Named to USA Olympic Team

As most Timberwolves fans had hoped and expected, Kevin Love will participate in the 2012 London Olympics for team USA.

Love, 23, has matured into an NBA All-Star in his young career. Noted as one, if not the top power forwards in the NBA right now, he will have the honor to put on the red, white, and blue this summer.

Love made a case for himself during the 2012 All-Star weekend. Love walked away with a trophy in hand, winning the three-point shooting contest. He would end the year with a team-high 105 three-pointers and became only the third player in NBA history to average at least 25 points and pull down 10 or more rebounds per game, all while making 50-plus three-pointers.

Love averaged a career-best 26 points per game (fourth in the NBA) and had 13.3 rebounds per game (second in the NBA only to Dwight Howard) in 55 games this season. Kevin Love did miss the ending of the 2011-12 season due to a concussion suffered April 11th when he took an elbow from Javale McGee. Despite the injury and time missed, Love still lead the league with 48 double-doubles and finished fourth in free-throws made.

Team USA will look to leave London with gold medals in hand, the same way they left the 2010 World Championships and the 2008 Olympics.
