Timberwolves Forward Anthony Tolliver Might Move to Greece
The Minnesota Timberwoles and Anthony Tolliver have a decision to make. Tolliver, who just completed his 5th season as a professional basketball player, has received multiple offers from NBA teams as well as an offer to move to Greece to play for Panathinaikos.
“Panathinaikos has definitely expressed strong interest and their coaching staff loves Anthony (Tolliver),” Fox, Tolliver’s agent, told HoopsHype. “While Anthony is flattered by their interest and the potential economics behind it, we are currently in discussions with several NBA teams. While we won’t rule out Greece, the interest level from the NBA remains strong and we are continuing to pursue those options.”
Tolliver has been a journeyman playing with the Spurs, Warriors, Trail Blazers, and the past two seasons with the Timberwolves. In his second season as a member of the Timberwolves, Tolliver averaged 4.1 points and 3.0 rebounds per game on 39% shooting. Tolliver offers energy, defense, as well as long range shooting abilities for whatever team he lands on.
Tolliver was a catalyst for the Timberwolves, especially when the Wolves got off to a slow start losing their first three games. Tolliver came off the bench with instant energy to help the Wolves seal their first win of the season against the defending Champion Mavericks.
The 6 foot 8 inch forward isn’t a big name in the Timberwolves organization, but he did his fair share to contribute when coming off the bench. Tolliver has been given an opportunity to play for Greece and most likely be a starter. Although he has interest in the offer sheet he’s been given, Tolliver is waiting to see what the Timberwolves organization has to offer. Minnesota already has plenty of forwards on there roster with players Kevin Love, Andre Kirilienko, Chase Budinger, Derrick Williams, and Dante Cunningham. Loosing Tolliver wouldn’t be a huge hit towards the franchise, but would surely miss an important role player.
